Why does Meadow need a Management Committee?

As both a registered charity and a company (Limited by Guarantee) Meadow must appoint a Management Committee made up of members of the Pre-school (parents) to form its ‘registered person’ with Ofsted (a little like a governing body at a school)

All families with a child at Meadow are members and are eligible to volunteer to join the Committee. Although the maximum number permitted is 15.


What does the Management Committee do?

The role of the Management Committee is to act in the best interests of the setting.

The Management Committee requires a wide range of skills from the members; everyone has something to offer!

As well as the overseeing the management of the company/charity. The Management Committee needs people who can help at and organise fundraising events, run stalls, make posters, write and edit documents, design websites, decoration, maintenance and gardening. But the most valuable of all is ideas, enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

We meet once per term during the evenings at Meadow. These meetings give everyone a change to share ideas regarding Meadow and discuss - finance, administration, maintenance and fundraising events.

Everyone is encouraged to get involved, we need a wide range of interests, skills and experience.


Why Join the Committee?

There is no better way to be involved in your child's first steps in their Early Years Education.


Joining the Management Committee gives you an insight into Meadow’s ethos and helps you to discover more about the Early year Foundation Stage and Learning through Play.

Being on the Management Committee can also allow you to add skills to your CV, make friends and give something back to the local community. Meadow has been a community pre-school for over 40 years and has always relied on the involvement of parents/volunteers.

There are no qualifications or experience needed, all you need is a willingness to get involved, attend meetings, share ideas and be part of a great team.

All members must be DBS registered and be a named trustee/director and three members must be appointed in ‘officer’ roles Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.


How do I join the Committee?

Meadow always needs parents to join our Committee.


All parents are welcome to the AGM in the Autumn and can nominate themselves for election onto the committee, or you can join the committee at any time during the academic year.

Whoever you are and whatever you do the committee needs you - everyone is welcome.
